U.S. based tech giant Google, in a statement issued on September 13, 2017, said, “to bring down language barriers, Google today announced several updates to its Translate App. Google Translate has also added support for conversation mode in regional languages including Bengali and Tamil.”
The seven regional languages include Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Urdu, Tamil, Kannada, and Bengali. The users will now be able to experience offline translations and instant visual translation in these languages.
Among all the updates, the two that stand out are – offline translations and a new conversation mode, which allows users to view translation in their preferred languages.

According to a report in HT, Indian language users can translate a word or sentence even when they are not connected to the internet if they download the language pack beforehand.
The app also allows users to click pictures of English text and get a translation for it in these languages.
With the Word Lens feature, users can also translate street signs or restaurant menus written in English through the camera.
Exactly a month ago, on August 15, 2017, a report in the Economic Times said, “Google has announced the launch of voice search in eight Indian languages to enable consumers to use their voice for search queries on the company’s flagship search app and its keyboard app Gboard.”
Known for its innovative ways, this is yet another feather in the company’s cap.
